This circuit, starting and ending in Chiang Rai, will take you along the Rim Kok River, the Ruammit Karen tribe village and Lam Nam Kok National Park, combining well-paved roads with jungle trails.
Depart from Chaing Rai and head towards Chiang Sean, which borders Laos, divided by the majestic Mekong River. This route has low elevations, with views of large expanses of rice paddies and small Buddhist temples along the way.
A few km after the departure, you reach the Golden Triangle, the point where the Ruak and Mekong rivers meet, offering views of Laos and Myanmar. After a brief stop, we continue to Mae Sai, the main border town with Myanmar, and then descend to Mae Yao via trails to the spectacular Kataliya Hotel.
This rest day includes a minibus visit to the Royal Summer Palace and its spectacular gardens on Doi Tung Mountain, followed by a visit to a tea plantation. The more adventurous can complete the same route by bicycle.
This day will be mostly spent on a mountain road, passing through villages with a Chinese influence, arriving with a steep descent to the town of Mae Ai.
One of the most beautiful and remote stages, bordering the Rim Kok River, passing through several tribal villages. Most of the journey is on dirt roads until crossing Lam Nam Kok National Park on the outskirts of Chiang Rai.
